Wedding Plans

We wanted a summer wedding, and we decided to get married on June 7th 2002. It was a small celebration, we did not want to make too much fuss nor spend too much money on an extravagant wedding, instead, we were married by the Justice of the Peace and two witnesses, in his office.

We did not want to bother the boys to come down, since we are not having a big wedding celebration. Marie told Gene that she is too busy on that day to drive the boys down (yeeeaaah riiiight, woman..grrrr)

We told them that we will see them in a week's time when they come and stay for the summer holidays.

Our neighbors, Ms Marge, a retired school teacher, and Mr Jimmy, a retired mechanic, were our witnessses, signed our marriage certificate. Ms Marge took pictures for us. They had another appointment on that day, they could not join us for dinner.

We had dinner at Outback Restaurant, just the two of us, as newly married couple:)

Robbie and Gene Jr. congratulated me. Ray mumbled "congrats" and quickly walked away.

Just when we all were about to sit down for dinner, the phone rang- guess who???
Bet you got it right?:) Yes, it was Marie on the phone. I happened to be seated near the phone and answered.

She has never ever call me by my name, I always address her by her name, do you see the difference here? There is NOTHING to COMPARE, and I know that I am SO MUCH BETTER THAN HER IN EVERY WAY...hmmm, that just shows whose got better manners and good family upbringing and values...lol

There was a pause on the phone - I guess she thought Gene was going to answer the phone, it seemed that she tried to think of what to say next to me...I know it was her on the phone, because we have ID caller...

"Hello Marie, are you still on the phone, can you hear me?" She finally answered -"Ummm, heeey, congratulations on your marriage to Gene, wow, I was so surprised Gene got married so fast...I thought your just one of his lady friends, you know dating on a casual basis...?"

Ah, I sensed the Green Eyed (actually her eyes are brown) Monster has emerged, and that was the Creature talking to me on the phone.

Marie thought that I would be *too stunned and loss for words* at her acidic comments.

Lo and Behold, I replied "Well, Marie, thanks for calling and for being so forthright with me about how you feel. There's absolutely nothing to be surprised about your ex-husband getting married to someone else, situations, events, happened for a valid reason."

That shut Marie up fast, and with a tight voice " I want to talk to Ray now" Gene and the boys heard what she said to me and my reply back at her, want to be mean, sure we can do that too, I had the speaker phone turned "ON" hahah...

Oooops, My bad? Sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do, makes sense?
